Pushya spans 3°20' to 16°40' Cancer, ruled by Saturn, with Brihaspati (Jupiter, guru of the gods) as its presiding deity and the cow's udder, lotus, and flower as its symbols. Classical Vedic astrology calls Pushya the most auspicious of all 27 nakshatras. The reason is the rare blend it carries: Saturn's discipline, Cancer's nurturing warmth, and Brihaspati's wisdom all in one segment. The name Pushya means to nourish or to flourish. People with this nakshatra strong are caring, dependable, spiritually inclined, and good at protecting and providing for others.

Pushya combines three ingredients that rarely sit together so comfortably. Saturn brings structure, patience, and duty. Cancer brings emotional nourishment and the instinct to care. Brihaspati brings wisdom, ethics, and spiritual guidance. The cow's udder symbol says it plainly: Pushya feeds and sustains, giving freely the way milk flows from a cow. Because of this nourishing, protective quality, traditional muhurta (electional astrology) treats Pushya as one of the best times to begin auspicious work, with the well-known exception that marriages are traditionally avoided under it.
Wisdom, devotion, and the limits
Brihaspati's influence makes Pushya natives drawn to teaching, counselling, religion, and service. They tend to be loyal, responsible, and steady, the people others lean on. The honest caveat: Saturn's seriousness can make them rigid, overly cautious, or self-sacrificing to the point of being taken advantage of. Their strong sense of duty can shade into stubbornness or a need to control how care is given. At their best, Pushya people turn discipline and devotion into genuine, generous nourishment for a family, a community, or a spiritual path.
